About Barry Shulman

I was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. I received my degree in Accounting from University of Washington in 1968. During my twenty-five years of active employment I really only had three jobs. Luckily for me I was quite successful at all of them. I became fairly well known in real estate investment circles in that I was often quoted as an expert in periodicals such as New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Business Week, U.S. News and Barrons. Then I retired to Las Vegas in the early nineties to play some golf and poker as well as maybe buy some real estate.

I really got involved in poker as I was not working and my type A personality forced me to treat it with the 24/7 compulsive behavior that made me a winner (and a nut) in other endeavors. Soon it became clear to me that poker was going to be a boom. Combining that with the fact that retirement doesn't work well for me, I sought out and bought the world's top poker magazine, Card Player. The rest is history. We have a large, dynamic, information packed website, www.CardPlayer.com. We've also launched a revolutionary online poker game and community at www.SpadeClub.com. I plan on replicating the things I have learned there with www.JetSetWay.com.

My other passion is philanthropy. I've taken great care to share my good fortune with others. Top charities, organizations and non-profits my family and I support include After-School All-Stars, AIDS Lifecycle, Anti-Defamation League, B'nai B'rith Camp, Free Arts for Kids, KMA/Lou Ruvo Brain Institute, LA Lakers Youth Foundation, Las Vegas Art Museum, Nathan Adelson Hospice, Nevada Ballet Theatre, Nevada Cancer Institute, Nevada Womens Philanthropy, PK Bike Day, Temple Beth El, and UJC/Jewish Federation.

Why create JetSet Way? This site is a convergence of several things that I really enjoy - travel, business, Internet, advising and even pontificating. I will always try to make this site fun and add significant value to my visitors.

I have traveled the world extensively for decades; primarily in the U.S., Europe, Asia and the Caribbean as well as many places in South America, the Middle East and India. Generally, my preferred method of travel is by cruise ships. I have been on 63 cruises and on 32 ships. I am also a huge fan of lovely hotels. In fact, I lived at the Bellagio Hotel for two years here in Las Vegas.

For years most of my travels were in the U.S. with about 30 trips to Hawaii and many more to Nevada before settling in Vegas. I lived in a beautiful co-op for two years in New York City right on Fifth Avenue overlooking Central Park, which felt like vacation even though I was working. I have probably spent parts of 15 summers in the French Riviera, particularly St. Tropez and Cannes.

I love the big cities such as London, Paris, Moscow, Rio, Hong Kong and Shanghai. However, some of my greatest memories have been the days I spent visiting the lost city of Petra in Jordan, climbing Dunns River Falls in Jamaica and exploring deep into the Amazon.

Fortunately I have a team that are experts at programming, design, marketing and running top end web sites. My job now is to travel the world and share my experiences with you.
