Komodo Island, Indonesia

If you like reptiles, this is the place for you. Komodo is the home of the Komodo Dragon, the world’s largest lizard.

They average about 10 feet in length, and weigh in at about 150 pounds. Komodo dragons are very deadly, but fortunately for the tourists, they have extremely low metabolism and are not hungry often.

At least a third of the world’s 5,000 dragon population live on Komodo Island, along with about an equal number of humans. Many of the people here are descended from criminals, sent here in exile.
