Nuku Hiva, Marquesas Islands
I started the day with less than a positive attitude about our first port of call. I figured that there are three reasons for the ship to stop at Nuku Hiva. They are so that passengers can:
1. say they have been to the Marquesas Islands
2. have a port to visit after six days instead of eight
3. have a marginal photo op
Acting on my assumptions, I got off for a few minutes and returned almost instantly. Then as people filed back on board, I kept hearing stories of what a wonderful stop we had.
I missed the scenery, pleasant people, dancing, real roasted pig in a pit and even an interesting jail. Oh well.
