Lausanne, Switzerland

We are off and running on our summer European Adventure. Not every day can be the "best day" of a vacation. Indeed, normally the worst are travel days. That was certainty our experience yesterday.
The plan was to fly to London, and spend a wonderful day at The Milestone Hotel (voted No. 1 British Hotel, Conde Nast Traveler Gold List World’s Best Hotels 2009), rest up, and then proceed the next day to Switzerland.
The itinerary was a simple: Las Vegas to Phoenix to London. I won’t bore you (or aggravate myself again) with the details, but Saturday ended up being Las Vegas to Phoenix to Los Angeles, overnight at a dump near the airport, and then Sunday to London (barley in time to catch the plane to Geneva). Then it was on to Lausanne, Switzerland.
That’s the bad part of traveling.
But, then things started shaping up. Although tired, here we are at the beautiful Beau-Rivage Palace in Lausanne, ready to start our 14 person, 12 day Magnificent Alpine Lakes tour.
The photo above is the view from our room is overlooking Lake Geneva, known as Lake Leman locally.
I have not taken a land tour since spending a week in Israel forty years ago. That was great, but a bit rustic -- hopefully we will have private baths this time.
